Implantation

   

10 to 14 days from conception the fertilized egg, upon entering the uterus, attaches to the uterine lining, or endometrium.

 3-4 Weeks
   
About three weeks after ovulation, the baby's brain, spinal cord, heart, and other organs begin to form.

The heart begins beating during week three and four.

 Early Development
     
At 8 weeks the fetus is now well over ½ in long. The arms and legs are well formed.

  The baby now measures 2 1/2 inches and moves on its own.  Sex organs begin to become clear.

16 Weeks
     

Fingerprints and fingernails, sex organs distinct, teeth buds found and the heart is fully formed.

20 Weeks
     

Begin to feel baby kick. Baby can suck their thumb, make faces and yawn.

                  24 Weeks

 

Baby has sleep and wake cycles. Soft white hair covers baby to keep them warm.
If born it now can survive.

40 weeks
     

Pregnancies last between 38 and 42 weeks. Babies differ in size based on genetics, number of babies being carried and gender.
